The Cashier...Make them Your Friend

I remember the first shopping trip I did with a fist full of coupons...boy was I nervous when it came to checking out. I walked past all the checkout lanes to see if I could see a friendly face who wouldn't grimace when I whipped out my coupons. I found a friendly face and started to unload my cart and put my coupons down. She asked my for my loyalty card but told her that I am a couponer and would prefer to see wait until after she had scanned all of my items. As soon as the last item was scanned I handed her my loyalty card and watched the total go down...then I handed her my fist full of coupons...I watched the amount of money go down as she scanned them and hoping that none of them would make that one sound all couponer's hate when a coupon doesn't go through...when she was done...she looked at me and at the total...then handed me the bill...she couldn't believe how much I had save...nor could I! So ever since then I always look for her whenever I shop and if I don't see her...I look for another friendly face!

Here are a few tips that I feel have helped me when I checkout...
Have your coupons already organized and ready to go...sometimes you might have a coupon that you intended to use but didn't....that has happened to me several times...make sure you pull it out!
If you are doing more than one transaction make sure you have your coupons separated and clipped together and use a sticky note to mark which transaction it is for...
and the most important one...Smile! you'll be amazed what a smile can do!

Happy Couponing!
